“It felt good to write, I have never really written much, I never even read much, and it just felt good to write. I incorporate my personal experiences and feelings into the novel.” says Srijoy. After completing the book, he kept writing. And that’s how GOLDEN WINGS was born.
Every author at some point while writing hits writer’s block but he already had the whole book in his head, he knew what he was going to write before he sat before the keyboard.
He says, “Sometimes new ideas would come along writing the already made ideas. The best way to overcome writer’s block is perhaps to just play out or write out the bad ideas until the good idea comes out of no-where and randomly. For songs, I harvest my ideas from dreams, I never force ideas to come. Although this is just me, I might not know the actual answer, I don’t remember a time I never had an idea I wanted to enact upon. There’s always something floating in my head that’s waiting to be executed.”
He is deeply influenced by works of Napoleon Hill, Ayn Rand, Bram Stoker, Charles Dickens and Edgar Allan Poe but he is still musician from heart. Acquiring the skills in music made him able to make songs that sounded good to him. He wanted to create songs that he would like. It became a habit. He kept practicing piano. He says that he never intended to become a writer, he just enjoyed the activity.
Since he is drilled into music, he felt that there were two-three hours in the day when he can do something else, he already writes his own lyrics and he already wrote about his time at Drexel. The “Drexfiles” is perhaps the key to his writing life which made him venture in the field of writing.
He will live in his MINI Cooper until his vision is fulfilled.
